8 Things to do on your BVI yacht charter
The Virgin Islands are full of fascinating spots to explore from bustling marinas to secluded beaches and colorful reefs. There are plenty of activities to keep you busy and great local restaurants for a bite to eat. (Although, once you taste Corinne’s cooking you’ll want every meal on the yacht). We’ll take you to all the best mooring points on your BVI yacht charter. We’ve put together a few of our top favorites to spark your enthusiasm:
The Baths in Virgin Gorda
One of our favorite spots to stop on any BVI yacht charter is The Baths on the island of Virgin Gorda. The trail through the caves to the white sandy beach is a thrilling adventure. Visitors can clamber through the cluster of sky-high boulders. Splash through crystal clear tidal pools. Squeeze through narrow passages. The journey through these ancient batholith boulders (the remnants of cooled magma once below the earth’s crust) requires footwear for some and a moderate amount of agility. But, we think it’s definitely worth the effort. The endpoint is a glorious stretch of sand. Perfect for an afternoon laze.
Jost Van Dyke
The casual bars and sandy beaches of Jost Van Dyke are a highlight of the British Virgin Islands. While Jost is one of the smallest main islands, it’s big in personality. With plenty of great anchorages to choose from, the island promises hours of entertainment. White Bay is one of the area’s popular spots to spend the day. Relax on the beach sipping tropical cocktails or dive off the yacht into the calm waters. The nearby reef is the ideal location for a morning snorkel. Great Harbor, the home of renowned Foxy’s Tamarind Bar and Corsairs Beach Bar is worth a visit too. Many of our guests are fortunate to meet Foxy himself and enjoy his many stories and entertaining lyrics.
Soggy Dollar Bar
A trip to White Bay on Jost Van Dyke isn’t complete without a drink at Soggy Dollar Bar. The very definition of a Caribbean beach bar, Soggy Dollar sits front and center on the white sands, mere meters from the water’s edge. We recommend to all our guests to unwind at this laid-back bar at some point during their BVI yacht charter. Settle on the sand with a Rum Punch or Pain Killer in hand or take on the challenge of one of the many bar games available.
The Bubbly Pool
With Jehty Quest, we’ll make sure you discover the hidden gems of the Caribbean during your BVI yacht charter. One treasure of a spot is The Bubbly Pool on Jost Van Dyke. Found on the opposite side of the island from White Bay and Soggy Dollar Bar, this secluded pool is a natural Jacuzzi. It’s an incredible experience to soak in the water as the waves come crashing in, creating a fizz. We also advise guests to pack their walking shoes and hike up the hillside to the nearby vantage point. The views of the coastline are spectacular to behold. A must for the avid photographer.
Anegada
Flat as a pancake and sitting at the northernmost point of the British Virgin Islands, Anegada is the only island that isn’t volcanic in origin. Tranquil and secluded, this island is celebrated for its whimsical white sand beaches. Guests can bake in the sun or take a stroll to find flocks of pink flamingos. But, the real allure of this lonesome island is the lobster. Magnificent specimens are sourced in the local waters. It’s a real treat to indulge in a lobster feast on the beaches of Anegada.
Cow Wreck Beach
A highlight of the British Virgin Islands, certainly a must when visiting Anegada, is Cow Wreck Beach. The quirky name isn’t the only draw. The pristine beach is one of the best the Virgin Islands has to offer. It’s also the best location for a spot of fishing. Drop a line in the crystal waters, sip Pina Coladas at the beach bar, or treat yourself to a lobster lunch. This pretty stopping point is must when you join us for a luxury BVI yacht charter.
Sandy Spit
The epitome of paradise, Sandy Spit is the classic example of a tropical deserted island. Barely half an acre in size and completely uninhabited, this tiny island is an idyllic place to relax for a couple of hours. The surrounding reefs make this a fabulous location for snorkeling and scuba diving.
